A 5-year-old boy was killed and two other children were injured in a drive-by shooting Friday night in Tempe, Arizona, police said.

Tempe Police Department officers responded to a shooting in the area of ​​West Broadway Road and South 52nd Street around 11:45 p.m.

Officers found a suspicious vehicle opened fire on a car containing an adult and six minors traveling east on Broadway Road from 48th Street, according to police. The suspect vehicle «immediately fled the scene.»

Three injured minors from the victim’s vehicle were taken to a local hospital where the 5-year-old boy was pronounced dead.

There are no suspects in custody and the motive is unknown at this time.

«This is an ongoing investigation and there is nothing more to add at this time,» police said in a statement.
